The Ned and the Jackson Arts Council will collaboratively host “Colors of the Bicentennial: Kid’s Community Mural Painting” in celebration of the Jackson-Madison Bicentennial Celebration.

All children ages 0-18 are invited to paint a Bicentennial themed mural on the back wall of the theatre at The Ned! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for kids to leave their artistic mark during the 200-year celebration of the City of Jackson and Madison County Tennessee. The Ned will be open to all children to paint the mural on the following dates:

Thursday Sept. 9 – 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 10 – 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 11 – 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

All painting materials will be provided, and participants are encouraged to wear clothes they can get paint on.

“We are so excited to host a bicentennial event here at The Ned,” said Johnny Kimbrough, Director of The Ned. “It will be a great time of building community through creativity and artistic talent.”

A reveal of the Colors of the Bicentennial Mural will be on Sunday, Sept. 12, at 3:00 p.m. All kids who participate in painting the mural will receive a certificate and have an opportunity to take a picture with the mural at the reveal. “

We are looking forward to kids being creatively and artistically involved in celebrating this historic event in our community,” said Lizzie Emmons, Executive Director of the Jackson Arts Council.
